PAC Election Results

The 2015-2016 PAC Election was held on December 4, 2014.  The first four officers below have been chosen by the majority of votes. The 2014 President will serve as Immediate Past President through 2016.

2014 PAC Election

According to the POLISH-AMERICAN CLUB OF THE TRIANGLE CONSTITUTIONAND BY-LAWS, ARTICLE V, Section 1, Nominations for an Executive Board (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) position are entirely voluntary. Any member may submit his/her name to the nominating committee or may be nominated from the floor prior to the ballot election. The nominating committee must announce the list of the nominees two weeks prior to the meeting before, in which the election takes place. Nominees must be members in good standing.  Nominees are encouraged to be present at the meeting where election takes place.  In case a nominee is not present for the election, such nominee must be available via voice or video call, in order to confirm their acceptance of nominated position.

We encourage submission of names of eligible candidates to Dr. Hanka Gracz, Chair of the Nominations Committee, at hanka.gracz@gmail.com

The official election is being planned to take place on Thursday December 4th, 7:00 PM, at the 1500 Sunday Drive, Suite 102, Raleigh, NC.  The regular PAC monthly meeting (Tuesday, December 2nd) is being rescheduled to Thursday December 4th.

All members are encouraged to participate.

Visit us at our Cultural, and Side-Walk Caffe Booths this Weekend (September 19-21)

Requesting Contributions of Baked Goods for Polish Sidewalk Cafe at the International Festival


Just like in previous years we are requesting for
contributions of Polish baked goods, which will be offered at the International Festival in Raleigh, September 19-21.

Polish Language Classes are Starting September 6th

Our first fall semester of Polish classes has started on Sept 6, 2014. We will meet every Saturday from 2 pm - 4 pm  in Daniels Hall. NCSU North Campus, Lampe Drive.

The price for the first semester is $140 for the first child and $70 for the second child. We have 14 Saturdays, with a break for Thanksgiving on Nov 29, 2014; we will not have classes on this day. The end of semester will be on Dec 13, 2014. We will have a St. Nicolas celebration on Dec 6, from 2 pm to 4 pm, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raleigh.
  
We will meet again for the second semester on Jan 3, 2015. 

Adults Polish classes are open as well. All adults pay the same price: $140 per first semester.

Signing up is still possible and requires an arrival of 30 minutes before classes start. Ms. Lucyna Kozek can assist with admissions and payment collection. Kids and adults will be directed to their classes based on age, and knowledge of the Polish language. 

We also encourage everyone of you to become active members of the Polish American Club.  Please sign up on the club's website www.polamrtp.com  to receive all information about club's events organized by the Polish-American Club.

Timely Lecture by Adam Michnik, Editor-in Chief of Gazeta Wyborcza - UNC, May 1, 2014

Adam Michnik, the Editor-in Chief of Gazeta Wyborcza, will address our Polish Community at the FedEx Global Education Center, Room 4003, UNC, Chapel Hill, on Thursday, May 1st at 7:00 PM. This lecture will be presented in Polish.  

He will also give a talk on Tuesday, April 29th at 6:30PM.

Summer Language Workshop at Indiana: Beginning Polish. Funding available

The Indiana University Summer Language Workshop continues to accept applications for intensive first-year Polish language study (June 9 - August 1, 2014) on the Bloomington campus. The program features 20 contact hours weekly, twice-weekly Polish table, films, food tastings, and other culturally rich extracurricular programming. 

Applications for Summer FLAS to fund Polish study in the Workshop are also still being accepted by IU's Russian and East European Institute (contingent upon availability of additional funds).

In 2014, the Workshop will also offer intensive language courses in Arabic, Hindi-Urdu, Hungarian, Mongolian, Persian, Romanian, Russian, Swahili, Tatar, Turkish, and Uzbek.

"Singing History: The Mixed Media and Messages of Polish Martial Law" Dr. Andrea Bohlman

Join us for our informal luncheon series highlighting the current research of UNC CSEEES-affiliated faculty.  The next Lunch and Learn will be on February 18th  and features Dr. Andrea Bohlman (Music).
