New Year’s Eve Party - Sylwester


The Polish-American Club of the Triangle cordially invites its Members and Friends to the New Year’s Eve (Sylwester) Party, from 7:00 PM till 1:00 AM on Thursday, December 31st, 2015 at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel Crabtree Valley, 3912 Arrow Drive, Raleigh, NC 27612.

Starting promptly at 7:00 PM, a cocktail reception will offer traditional Polish appetizers and will be followed by a three-course dinner, with three different main courses to choose from, starting at 8:00 PM. All evening entertainment will be provided by a professional DJ. A glass of champagne will be served at midnight and three (3) drink tickets are included in the total price. Coffee, tea and water will be provided during the event. Additional drinks will be available from a Cash Bar.

PAC Photo Contest – deadline extended

Due to the small number of entries to the PAC 2015 Photography Contest the Club decided to extend the deadline until January 31, 2016.
The Contest’s theme is Poland we don’t know. We believe that there are many yet undiscovered aspects of Poland and of being Polish. We are looking for digital photographs that capture unique, original and creative images of anything and everything truly Polish – as defined and revealed by the contesting photographers.  Ideally, your photographs should highlight the diversity of Polish people, their history, culture and customs, whether the images are taken in Poland, the United States or anywhere in the world.
The Club intends to award the following prizes:
Grand Prize          $500 & a commemorative plaque
2nd Prize               $300 & a commemorative plaque
3rd Prize                $100 & a commemorative plaque
Honorable Mentions

Ognisko - Bonfire


As every year the Club is organizing a bonfire picnic - Ognisko.
Where - Lake Crabtree County Park @ Dogwood shelter
When  - Sunday 10/18/2015. From 2:00 pm to sunset
Club will provide soups (zurek & grochowka), kebabs, soft drinks and hot dogs, marshmallows for children. 

Please bring a salad or dessert to share. 
Note that NO ALCOHOLIC DRINKS are allowed at the event.
Cost: $5 member , $7 non members, children 12 and under free.

Polish classes

The Fall Semester of Polish classes started on Sept 12, 2015. We will meet every Saturday from 2 pm - 4 pm  in Withers Hall. NCSU North Campus, Lampe  Drive     http://www.ncsu.edu/campus_map/north.htm

Please remember to bring snacks and water for you children. Please try to avoid snacks that can crumble when stepped on.

The price for the Fall Semester is $180 for the first child and $90 for the second child. We have 14 Saturdays, with a break for Thanksgiving on November 28, 2015; we will not have classes on this day. The end of semester will be on December 19, 2015.
Popular Choinka Party will be held on Saturday December 5th, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic church.

PAC PHOTO CONTEST 2015


The Polish-American Club of the Triangle (PAC) invites everyone to enter its 2015 Photography Contest.

What to enter
The Contest’s theme is Poland we don’t know. We believe that there are many yet undiscovered aspects of Poland and of being Polish. We are looking for digital photographs that capture unique, original and creative images of anything and everything truly Polish – as defined and revealed by the contesting photographers.  Ideally, your photographs should highlight the diversity of Polish people, their history, culture and customs, whether the images are taken in Poland, the United States or anywhere in the world.
The Club intends to award the following prizes:
·         Grand Prize                     $500 & a commemorative plaque
·         2nd Prize                            $300 & a commemorative plaque
·         3rd Prize                            $100 & a commemorative plaque
·         Honorable Mentions

How to enter
All images must be submitted by email to polam.raleigh@gmail.com
All entries, no more than three (3) images per entrant, must have been taken within two (2) years before the date of entry. Entries may be in any format — including, but not limited to digital files, digital prints, color transparencies, color prints, or black and white prints — as long as they are submitted electronically. All digital files must be 25 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image). Only minor editing like color correction, brightness, contrast is acceptable, as is cropping. The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph.
All entries must be accompanied by the following information: entrant name, address, telephone number, email address, and photo caption. Photo captions must accompany all submissions, and should include the subject of the image, the location the image was taken, and the name of the photographer.
By entering this Contest, the entrant explicitly agrees to the terms and conditions as described in the attached PAC Photo Contest 2015 Legal Conditions.

ELIGIBILITY AND JUDGING
Members of the PAC Executive Board and their immediate families as well all involved in the Contest organization, are not eligible to participate.
Images will be judged on thematic originality, artistic merit, composition and technical quality. All submitted photographs will be presented to the jury anonymously. The judges will be three renowned photographers:

Jan Krzysztof Teller, PAC President (ex officio)

DEADLINES
Online entries can be submitted starting immediately. Deadline for submitting entries is November 30, 2015. Awardees will be announced in December 2015.  The Club reserves the right to change any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its control.

WINNING PHOTOS
The Club intends to exhibit the awarded and other selected photographs on the Club’s website. The grand-prize winner's image will be posted on the Club website homepage until the next contest takes place. Other selected images will also be featured throughout the year.

YOUR RIGHTS
You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit -- including ownership if applicable. You only grant The Club rights (as described below) to your photograph if you are honored by the competition as one of the prizes winner. Before you are formally honored by the contest, The Club will contact you to confirm that you wish to grant us rights to your image as described below.
If your photograph is formally honored by the Contest as a prize winner or honorable mention, you grant The Club a royalty-free, nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to: use the photograph on the Internet in support of our mission; use the photograph in The Club’s  communications; use, in connection with the Photo Contest, your name, city, state and country of residence in promotions and other publications; keep the files provided, and to archive the images in electronic forms, so that your photos can be used to support our mission and be properly credited.
As conditions of this permission, The Club shall credit all photographs with the caption “© Person's Name”.

Majówka picnic - May 10, Lake Montague

New Schedule and Location for Future PAC Meetings

The Polish-American Club (PAC) of the Triangle will be meeting now monthly on every first Thursday at 7 PM, and the new meeting place is: Faculty Conference Room # 5234, James B. Hunt Jr. Library, 5th Floor, NC State University, Raleigh, NC.
